RP Staff unite to support Dementia Awareness Week 14-20th May 2017

2017-05-19 07:11

As we reach the end of Dementia Awareness Week now is the perfect time to look back at all the efforts and initiatives that the RP staff had in place to help raise awareness of Dementia.

The week commenced with a visit to the local Waterstones where we held a cake sale and sold copies of our publication: Dementia hope on a difficult journey.  We would like to thank the staff at Waterstones for their tremendous baking efforts, and the local town crier who helped spread the word about the fundraising.

We’re happy to announce that the cake sale rose over £76 for Alzheimer’s Society.

During the week we were very fortunate to be welcomed into local care homes where they delivered special hampers full of goodies such as: biscuits, tulips and our book on dementia

Marlfield care home played host to a Dementia Friends talk, which was extremely informative and useful. The talk cleared many myths, and we can all say that we now have a much better understanding of the disease.

Dementia Awareness Week has been a great opportunity for all of us to learn more about the disease as well as help spread awareness. If you need any more information on the disease then the Alzheimer’s Society website is a good place to start, or if you need a resource to help support the spiritual care of sufferers then check out our publication
