Prayers

God our Father has brought us back to true life with Christ. Let us bring our prayers to him.

We pray for Pope Benedict as we prepare for his visit to the UK: may this be a time of witness to the Gospel message of unity, peace and hope.

We pray for all those affected by the floods in Pakistan: may those who have died rest in peace, and may those who have lost their homes be enabled to rebuild their lives.

We pray for the people of Niger, facing drought and famine: may they receive the help they need to survive in the crisis and to plan for the future.

As we remember this week the 65th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, we pray for peace throughout the world: may we put aside the weapons of war and seek justice and reconciliation through peaceful means.

We pray for those who are facing the loss of their jobs and livelihoods: may they be enabled to find new work and hope for the future.

We pray for the peoples of the Holy Land: that those who are divided by race, religion and politics may live together in mutual trust and respect.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to hear the prayers that we offer in the power of the Holy Spirit, through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
