Prayers
Let us pray to the Lord who calls us to trust and to follow him.
We pray for the people of Haiti, in the aftermath of the earthquake in their country: may they be given the strength and assistance they need to recover and rebuild their lives.
We pray for the people of Northern Ireland and for their political leaders: that there may be continued progress in the ways of peace and reconciliation.
We pray for Paul and Rachel Chandler, held hostage by Somali pirates: may they be freed and returned safely to their family.
As we keep the World Day for the Sick this week, we pray especially for all who live with chronic and long-term disease: may they be strengthened in faith and brought healing and comfort in their suffering.
We pray for all those who care for those who are sick; for doctors, nurses, chaplains and carers: that they may be filled with compassion and bring hope and comfort to those in their care.
Heavenly Father, you call and commission us to be your servants and apostles in our world; we ask you to hear the prayers that we offer, through the same Christ our Lord.
