Fr Jim McManus

Jim McManus was professed as a Redemptorist on 8 September 1957 and celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of his Profession on 8 September 2017. He was ordained a priest in 1964 and for the next three years he pursued further studies in Rome. After teaching moral theology for six years in the Redemptorist Seminary he established Hawkstone Hall as a Sabbatical Spiritual Renewal Centre in 1973. For forty years, through three-month renewal courses, Hawkstone offered the opportunity for deep spiritual renewal to thousands of priests and religious men and women from all over the world. During his early work in Hawkstone Hall he realised that there was a need for a ministry of prayer for the healing of the hurts and inner wounds that many good people carry deep in their hearts. This led him to write several books on the healing ministry, on developing a spirituality of true self-esteem and forgiveness, and on cultivating true devotion in one’s spiritual life. He is currently based in the Redemptorist Spirituality Centre in Scotland, in Perth, where his main mission consists of preaching parish missions throughout Britain, directing retreats for priests and religious in different countries, and encouraging the development of the healing ministry in parish life.
